The Tour de... Nowhere!

Coronavirus put a stop to this year's Tour de Yorkshire, but last year I had a roadside view of bikes in the Yorkshire village of Elvington as my radio show came live from the Village Green.

Villagers painted old bikes blue and yellow, made bunting and decorated homes and gardens. The main street had a village fete feel to the day, with schools closing early to watch the race.  There was an array of food stalls, there was fundraising and the Air Museum had brought down its very own aircraft exhibit for the day.

It was a wonderful feeling being a part of the village’s special day, I walked the village chatting to residents young and old, handing out flags and reporting back to the studio with regular updates.

Although you can't go outside and watch the bikes this year or enjoy the festivities that go with such an event you can relive last year's Tour by listening to my best bits from last year here
